The Belmont Housing Authority provides permanent housing for low- and moderate-income families through two income-based housing programs:
Public Housing program (51 Flowers Court)
All applicants (elderly and non-elderly) can apply for the public housing program. Eligibility and rent is based on income and will be determined at the time an applicant nears the top of the waiting list. You will pay your own utilities and will be provided with a utility allowance. Visit the HUD website for more information on the
public housing program.
USDA Rural Development 515(b) program/Section 8 Assistance (55 W Myrtle Street)
Persons over the age of sixty-two (62) can apply for housing at Myrtle Terrace Apartments. Utilities are provided but any excess utility usage is payable by residents.
No. The Belmont Housing Authority does not provide emergency or temporary housing of any kind. Emergency housing is only offered through homeless shelters, other community agencies or the Salvation Army. A resource pamphlet titled
"Where Are You Sleeping Tonight" has been developed by the City of Gastonia's
Community Development Department and provides information for temporary and/or emergency housing and is available in the lobby of the Flowers Court management office.
This website provides basic information about our programs and properties
An application and other printed material is available in the lobby of the Flowers Court Apartments.
An application for Myrtle Terrace Apartments is available in the site manager's office and outside next to the front door.
Site managers can be contacted during normal office hours.
You can download an application from this website and hand deliver or mail to 51 Flowers Courts. If hand delivering, date stamp and drop your application in the drop box in the lobby of the management office.
An application is available in the management office lobby which should be completed, date stamped and placed in the drop box located in the lobby of the management office.
You must visit the Myrtle Terrace management office at 55 W Myrtle Street and speak with the property manager. He/she will give you information about the property, explain the eligibility criteria and assist you in completing an application if you are eligible.
The application will be reviewed and entered into our waiting list system in the order it was received and ranked according to established preferences. Assuming that you meet the preliminary requirements, you will be mailed a letter indicating that you have been placed on the waiting list. This letter does not guarantee that you will be housed, but merely acknowledges that your application has been accepted and placed on the waiting list pending further verification.
Once your name reaches the top of either waiting list you will be asked to provide additional information such as, birth certificates and social security cards for each member of the applicant household, written verification of all household income, non-certified copies of criminal reports for all family members age 18 or older from any county they have resided in or been arrested in within the past three years.
BHA does not give out information over the telephone regarding position on the public housing waiting list at Flowers Court. You can call the BHA Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system for your position on the waiting list. Refer to the Waiting List section of this website for more information.
You can call Trudy Jones, Site Manager at 704-825-2446 or visit her at the Myrtle Terrace management office between the hours of 6:00 am and 2:00 pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays to inquire about your application.
It is your responsibility to notify the Belmont Housing Authority of any changes in income family composition, employment status, address or phone number change, etc.
Flowers Court: An update form is available in the Forms section of this website and in the lobby of the Flowers Court management office. Fill out the update form, date stamp and place in the drop box in the Flowers Court management office. No applicant updates will be taken over the telephone.
Myrtle Terrace: Visit the management office or call Trudy Jones at 704-825-2446 during normal office hours to update your application.
Failure to report any changes may cause your application to be purged from the waiting list and will require you to re-apply for assistance. This will delay your housing assistance.
